Documentary Film Distribution!

Before we started shooting in May of 2007, people started asking us what our distribution plan was for Our Wildest Dreams. I have yet to meet an indie documentary filmmaker who does have a distribution plan, but that doesn't stop people from asking us.

Well, we just might know after Saturday. Or at least wemight have more of a clue. John and I will be at the 2009 Independent Producers Conference in Minneapolis. Industry experts will weigh in on our film and give us a little guidance. We feel lucky that we were asked to attend and let them use our film as a case study.

If you are in the area, please attend!

Exclusive! Behind the Scenes of Our Wildest Dreams!

Do "exclusive" and "behind the scenes" make these photos more exciting? Is it better storytelling or just hype? In the biz, we call them productions stills. However, these production stills were tougher to manage than usual because I left some camera equipment at home and was forced to use disposable cameras that I bought at a grocery store.

As some of you know, many of the photos didn't turn out. There's a lot of spooky speculation to why that is. But the important thing is that the video camera and microphones worked just fine. (Well, not the video camera batteries - but that's another story.)

We couldn't have ask for a better on-camera expert than Dr. Ramsland. Her interview will be a huge asset to the film and her students were amazing too. We truly feel lucky to have had this opportunity to film Dr. Ramsland and the students at DeSales.  Everything came together so beautifully and that's saying a lot considering there were so many moving parts.

For some reason, production on this film has been smother and more exciting than any other project I've ever worked on.  I have this feeling that this story really wants to be told and it has chosen us to tell it.

Our lovely grip, Kiera took this photos.

By the way, did you know Katherine has a new book? I can't wait to read it!

Latest Shoot for Our Wildest Dreams

Wow, what an experience we had at DeSales University! The students in Katherine Ramsland's Psychological Sleuthing class recreated a dollhouse death scene (Attic from the Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death) for other students to investigate. It was wonderful. They did such a great job. And we were actually in an attic in an old farm house. Everything was great, except the ghost who haunts there kept draining our camera batteries and killed our car battery.

For the record, Katherine thinks that the story of the Nutshells would have been even more interesting if the dollhousemaker was a man instead of a woman. Very interesting point!
